Realizing the unique opportunity to be a vital player in economic growth of Spartanburg County, SCC created the Office of Economic Development, thus becoming an innovative leader in business and entrepreneurial development. A primary focus of this office is to promote collaboration between economic development organizations, government, business, and education to develop a business-friendly environment, which results in job growth in core and emerging industries. To this end, a partnership with Spartanburg County and the Area Chamber Economic Futures Group was strengthened.

A primary resource for business development at SCC, The Center for Business and Entrepreneurial Development is an invaluable tool to assist entrepreneurs and businesses launch, build, expand, and reorganize successful companies. The Center is in a
foreign trade zone, located along the I-85 Corridor on Highway 290 in Duncan, South Carolina. It consists of four major sectors:
Current clients represent a variety of companies including manufacturing, transportation and logistics, packaging, and wholesale trade. Future clients could include agribusiness, automotive, metalworking, plastics, professional services, financial, and technology industries.
