Marilyn Trader
Wake County Human Services

Ms. Trader has seventeen-plus years of working with the Deaf-Blind population and received training from the Helen Keller National Center. She served as Secretary for the American Association of the Deaf-Blind from 2001-2009. She continues to collaborate with several liaisons of AADB, including. North Carolina Association for the Deaf Blind and coordinates SSP services there.
As a Clinical Social Worker for Wake County MH/SA/DD services, she provides an array of services for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deaf-Blind community, their families and other service providers.
She has been a distinguished presenter at the National Association of Social Workers, National Association of Graduate Professional Students, North Carolina Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, as well as several organizations dedicated to serving the Deaf and Deaf-Blind populations.
Mr. Trader also maintains an international presence, interpreting at the World Federation of the Deaf-Blind, DeafWay and American Association for the Deaf-Blind Conferences.
Jerry Francis
South Carolina Commission for the Blind
Mr. Francis is the Deaf-Blind Consultant for the SC Commission for the Blind (SCCB). He has been with SCCB since July 1994. He is also the Region II Director within the Vocational Rehabilitation program at SCCB. Prior to his position at SCCB, he was employed as a counselor with the SC Vocational Rehabilitation Department in Summerville, SC and managed a deaf services caseload for four years.
Mr. Francis earned his RID interpreter certification while still in high school. He then completed the interpreter training program at Spartanburg Methodist College, earning his Associate of Arts degree. Later, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the College of Charleston and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of South Carolina.
