CSI: Spartanburg

A day of community service provided by college students in Spartanburg

Here’s how the CSI service day event works:
  • Agencies/organizations seeking one-day assistance register with the CSI committee.
  • College students from SCC, USC Upstate, SMC, Wofford, Converse and Sherman Chiropractic College arrive at The Hangar by 9 a.m. (a neutral, central site in downtown Spartanburg, large enough to hold hundreds of students!)
  • Students sign in & select an agency from the list upon arrival, grab a free t-shirt & breakfast, attend the opening session, and head out to serve the registered agencies/organizations!
  • Students return to The Hangar for a reflection activity, discussing their experiences in small groups.
  • Lunch is served and student volunteers are dismissed.
The 2010 CSI (Collegetown Service Initiative) Saturday, April 10, 2010 from 9 am – 2 pm Meet at Spartanburg First Baptist Church’s “Hanger” Youth Center (Dunbar Street, Downtown Spartanburg) All SCC students are encouraged to take part in this county-wide community service day!

No children/ guests – this event is strictly for college students enrolled at one of the 6 Spartanburg colleges.

(There are restrictions related to the service sites). CSI is a project of the College Town consortium, a collaboration of the institutions of higher education in Spartanburg County – Converse College, Sherman College, Spartanburg Methodist College, Spartanburg Community College, the University of South Carolina Upstate and Wofford College.
